Reading Challenges for 2017

I typically don’t keep track of the books I’ve read from one year to the next, but since I started blogging, I thought it would be a good idea to challenge myself and set new and interesting goals for the new year.

For my 2016 GoodReads challenge I ended up reading 203 books out of my goal of 150. I really surprised the crap out of myself with that number.

For 2017 I have again challenged myself to read 150 books, which I think is quite a lot. I mostly hope to engage in a larger spectrum of books, which brings me to my second challenge for 2017.

I’m challenging myself to read all the books referenced from the first season of Gilmore Girls by the end of this year. I already started by collecting some of the books that I’ll need. Luckily most of them are available for free on Kindle πŸ™‚ and I am 1/3 of the way done with The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. I have a feeling this is going to be really difficult for my, but I hope I can tackle at least two a month. I’ve changed the color on the books I’ve already read, so you can see what’s left. I’m hoping to update at the end of every month how far I’ve been able to get. Also, if anyone would like to join me, please feel free!

  1. That is such a good idea to read all the books mentioned in season one of Gilmore Girls. I would join but I don’t think I would be able to to get through all of those books on top of all the other challenges I have already joined.

  2. The Gilmore Girls challenge sounds super interesting!! Unfortunately I don’t like that many classics, but all these books mentioned seem important and I really should read them. Thankfully, I’ve already read Anna Karenina, so that’s 1,000 pages down. Whew. And you read 206 books?? That’s amazing, congrats!

    1. Thank you! I never expected to read that many but when you find good books it’s hard to put them down. I picked the Gilmore girls so I could force myself to read some classics I really hope I can make it. Way to go with Anna karenina, I’ve tried to read that book six times already and can’t get past the first five chapters sadly!
